I’m a writer and journalist living in Chicago. I have a traditional journalism background, but my focus is on creating content that improves peoples lives. I believe that the way we create, publish and amplify information has a tremendous effect on our society, and I am always focused on authenticity, accuracy and clarity in my work.
My freelancing work includes a lot of state and local government reporting that has illuminated issues like anti-trans legislation, a state budget that didn’t include education funding and a local program to help address court fees during the pandemic. My other work includes business, real estate, government and education reporting as well as digital management skills. I’m currently the Chicago residential real estate reporter for the The Real Deal. You can see my work from TRD here. If you hit a paywall and want to read more of my work, please contact me.
The common thread throughout my work is that I love finding meaningful and creative ways to report on stories that have an impact on peoples’ lives. No matter where I work or what I do I want to be a trusted source for my readers and clients. To me, that means clear and direct writing, finding ways to answer questions through social media and audience engagement and looking for new and more effective ways to tell the overarching issues of our time.
Beyond my work, it’s important to know I’m Midwestern friendly and I laugh loudly. I enjoy yelling at my TV during Jayhawk basketball games, eating cheesecake, watching reruns of the West Wing and being outside with my dog, Moose.
