The Greenfield Recorder

I worked for the Greenfield Recorder from 2016 to late 2017. I covered three towns, a school district, courts, crime, and arts and culture. During this time I developed a wide range of skills, often jumping from short breaking news stories to longer weekend pieces all within a few hours. My biggest story was the investigation of a local police chief who had developed an opioid addiction and was accused of tampering with a medication drop box in the police precinct. The year-long project culminated in two stories: one that gave a full accounting of what had happened with the drop box, and another that allowed the police chief to talk openly about how his addiction improved his department’s handled of addiction-related crime.
