I approach each writing assignment like a puzzle. I evaluate several questions as I’m working through a story: Who needs to read this story? How will I frame this reporting to ensure they read it? How will I present the information in a way that’s clear and concise? A former editor once said we should always write for the person who just arrived in town and has no prior knowledge of the issues. I know I’ve done my job correctly when I am able to turn a complex topic into a digestible and engaging story.
